Chair of Amisfield Preservation Trust.
Our current chair will retire in September 2027 and we are seeking a successor, initially in the role of Vice-Chair.
The Chair’s job is to ensure that the Board focusses on the right issues; has the right information; and the right mix of skills to deliver the Trust’s purpose – which is to ensure that Amisfield remains a beautiful space which enhances the wellbeing of visitors and volunteers; and an exemplar of how a community can come together to enhance its environment.
The qualities and experience we’re looking for in our new Chair are:
- Leadership and chairing skills
- Financial literacy
- Knowledge or experience of the voluntary/charitable sector
- An interest in gardens
The Chair is supported by a Treasurer and Secretary. Other board members have expertise in events, horticulture, fundraising, and architecture.
Chair’s Role
- Chairing monthly Board meetings and promoting good governance.
- Leading the Board in planning and coordinating a programme of garden maintenance, developments and events.
- Working with fellow Board members to support and manage the garden’s employees; to compile funding applications and reports to funders.
- Being a key contact and conduit for stakeholders, funders and donors, the media and East Lothian Council
